ENG : Vortigaunt Disappearance

A Shattered Balance

Following Red Thursday, a major event during which Civil Protection forces in District 8 carried out a series of targeted raids against resistance cells, operations quickly escalated into widespread riots. The already fragile balance of the underground was severely disrupted.

The Vortigaunts, who had been living in hiding within catacombs, sewers, and abandoned metro stations, were forced to act with extreme caution. Already marginalized, they were not truly accepted, even among humans opposed to the UNION.

The Hunt for the Vortigaunts

In the chaos that followed, several human groups began targeting them, seeking to seize control of the few remaining livable spaces beneath the surface.

Faced with growing pressure:

  • Most Vortigaunts chose to flee:
    • Some migrated to other districts, often more derelict, but considered temporarily safer.
    • Others made the risky decision to head into the Outland, exposing themselves to near-certain detection.
  • A few clans refused to yield:
    • The most stubborn among them, such as the Kra’Thral, chose to stand and fight.
    • Their resistance was brief and costly: very few survived, if any at all.

An Uncertain Future

Today, all Vortigaunt clans are significantly weakened. The Sha’Vorr tribe, for its part, fled in haste, leaving behind artifacts, memories, and traces still open to discovery.

Their departure raises many questions:

  • Were they driven out for good?
  • Or is this only a temporary retreat?

A Whispered Prophecy

Among the refugees, a rumor persists:

"According to a fresco hastily drawn by an elder Vortigaunt sage, the clans will return. For reasons of their own… but they will return."
